Programme
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival in the thousand-year old Gdańsk. The Old Town is full of shops with amber arts, as the amber can be found nearby in the Baltic Sea. Gdańsk was a strong member of the Hanseatic League and there has always been a tight link between the history of Gdańsk and the world history: The cannonade on Westerplatte in 1939 began World War II and the appearance of the Workers’ Union Solidarity in the Lenin’s Shipyard in 1980 marked the beginning of the end of communism in Central-Eastern Europe.
Day 2: City sightseeing tour
Today you will discover the pearls of Gdańsk at the historical Old Town. Long Street and Long Market are lined up with richly ornamented old housed and historical buildings. The Artus Court is one of the most magnificent buildings of this type in Europe and the Neptun Fountain is a symbol of Gdańsk. Another symbol of the city is the Gdańsk Crane, the biggest medieval port crane in Europe, situated at the waterfront of the Motlawa River. St Mary’s is the oldest brick church in Europe and at the Oliwa Cathedral you will listen to an organ concert. In the afternoon, visit to the „Tri-City“: the adjacent seaside spa of Sopot with Europe’s longest wooden pier, and the port city of Gdynia.
Day 3: Malbork · River cruise
Time for individual visits or participation in one of our optional excursions. Very popular is a visit to the Castle of the Teutonic Knights in Malbork, Europe’s oldest medieval brick castle. You can also go on a round-trip through the Kashubian Lakeland region, which is famous for its folk arts. Should you prefer nature, we can organize a visit to Europe’s biggest Shifting Dunes in the Słowiński National Park or, should you prefer culture, a visit to Frombork with Nicolaus Copernicus Museum on Cathedral Hill.
